Capri
Capri is one of my favourite places and I have visited it many times. If you are planning a trip there, here are some suggestions of places to visit which your hotel concierge may overlook. Of course, you should walk up to the Villa Jovis but don’t miss the Villa Lysis - www.villalysiscapri.com. Recently restored, the Villa Lysis occupies a wonderful position overlooking the Marina Grande. The Villa San Michele is a must but while you are there, take a ride on Capri’s very own chair lift, www.capriseggiovia.it to the top of Monte Solaro. This once boasted a swimming pool and restaurant and plans are afoot to re-develop the site. The views are stunning.
If you are feeling energetic, take a walk to the Arco Naturale and follow the steps and path that is the Via del Pizzolungo to the Via Tragara. If you want lunch, keep walking to La Fontelina, www.fontelina-capri.com, a wonderful seaside restaurant. You will need lunch to fuel the final steps leading upwards to the Hotel Punta Tragara - www.hoteltragara.com - with its wonderful views of the Faraglioni.
Don’t leave without exploring the small shops that hide in Capri’s narrow, winding streets or booking dinner at Aurora
And, best of all, hire a small boat – it isn’t too expensive - and be taken around the island. Look out for the Grotto Verde, the Villa Malaparte, the lighthouse and, of course, the goats.
